The Petition
Considering our Human Rights as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (General Assembly resolution 217 A, 1948), in particular
Article 3
– “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and the security of person.”,
Article 9
– “No one shall be subjected to […] exile.”
Article 17.2
– “No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.”,
Whereas war violates these human rights on large scale,
And considering that decision of war are regularly made by a small group of individuals, whereas We, the people have no voice in them,
We, the signers, petition the United Nation General Assembly to pass a Resolution requesting negotiations towards an international treaty to the effect that:
Every Nation shall adapt their laws in the following way: After any decision of its government or parliament to engage the Nation's military or other armed forces in military action abroad, the people have the right to request a Referendum by collecting a reasonably small number of signatures within a reasonable time frame. The military action shall be authorized only if in the Referendum a majority of people vote in support of it.
